STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS gave us more insight into Doctor M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) and Nurse Chapel’s (Jess Bush) background and THE ART OF WAR. The writers had a field day writing about all the different levels of PTSD and where it can drop you off in the present.
At times, this episode was a bit vague, confusing, and in the end, hugely surprising. When reminiscing, the pace was lightning-fast. There were so many “incoming transports.” I could not keep up. It felt a little like the old MASH series on speed. It was a nightmare trying to explain “what it was like back there.” Being around a Klingon makes it very difficult to maintain a “Star Fleet face even when ordered to do so.
STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS made fans feel empathy and hatred for the Butcher of J’Gaul. Kudos to the ensemble and writers. No matter what century, war is always hell.
It is available to stream on PARAMOUNT.
