STAR TREK: DISCOVERY S5E1-2 ๐Ÿ˜Š

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY is back for its final season of space exploration and saving the universe. A โ€œRed Directiveโ€ is not mandated very often, so when the Federation issues one, it is all hands on deck.ย

I must preface my comments with my being a โ€œTrekkieโ€ my entire life, so I am sad to say I was a bit disappointed with the first two episodes. STAR TREK personifies escapism and promotes suspension of disbelief, but it was a stretch even for me. There were motorcycle moments, space surfing, a walk in the green, lush garden, and possible avalanche collusions that were just too chatty. They all seemed too easy, and thatโ€™s never good when fans become blasรฉ. I do blame the writers for not making it all a tad more realistic and โ€œred alertโ€ dangerous.

The ensemble was fascinating and continually evoked emotional highs and lows, but at times, again, it was all breathy talk and not enough action. I know it was the beginning of a new plotline, so I will be more forgiving to see where it all will lead viewers in the coming weeks. I have a feeling it will be a philosophical journey for the crew as they decide their individual future paths.ย

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY has been one of my favorites.ย ย I sure hope it soars to new heights and boldly soars in the coming weeks. It is streaming on Paramount+.ย
