SCOOP ๐Ÿ˜Š

SCOOP is a rehash of the events surrounding the 2022 interview on Britonโ€™s NEWSNIGHT television show with Prince Andrew. He thought that sharing his side of his relationship with the infamous, convicted sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, would soften the worldโ€™s opinion of him. Needless to say, this did not work.

The movie has brought a bunch of angst once more to the Royal Family who would like to put this topic of conversation to rest, but itโ€™s still a โ€œhotโ€ topic all over social media. Finding the truth has always been at the heart of this news station, and so, it was told from the perspective of the people who put this issue front and center and how they made it happen. It is a tense, compelling, fascinating film.

Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper, and Rufus Sewell were phenomenal. Their portrayals of the news anchor, investigative reporter, and the Prince were spot-on. The breaths, the pausing, the facial expressions, tone, and demeanor brought the story alive. The tension was palpable. Even though we all know the outcome of the event, I found myself holding my breath in anticipation of what came next in the real timeline. The writers were clever to place clips from history throughout the movie as well.

SCOOP is a well-made film about a dark time in Britonโ€™s past. It is still haunting them today and leaves victims in a precarious position with no justice. It is streaming on Netflix.
