PLATONIC S1E6 THE BIG TWO SIX 😊

At the end of my season premiere review of PLATONIC, I wrote, “I hope my PLATONIC relationship will grow into something more meaningful, but it’s too early to tell.” After six episodes, it’s confirmed that PLATONIC is just an okay show.

The chemistry between Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan kept me coming back weekly at the start of this show. Now, it’s the supporting cast acting like they come from the Judd Apatow school of filmmaking. There’s Tre Hale as Andy, the best friend we all want, and Carla Gallo as the mom friend we all laugh with. Then there’s Luke Macfarlane as the boring husband; that’s actually funny. And the MVP this week, Emily Kimball, as Will’s YOLO younger girlfriend who has the honor of “only turning 26 once.” All of them make up a 🤩 worthy ensemble.

PLATONIC continues to chug along with enough chuckles and heartfelt moments to earn viewers’ time. Sadly, the source material isn’t enough to launch it into the same category as WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

It’s available on Apple TV+.
