MASTERS OF THE AIR is a rough show to watch. So much death in the sky with no way to take the bodies home to be buried. It is difficult to imagine all the emotional pain and suffering, but very necessary to understand war is not a video game.
The consequences of being on that level of constant intensity are mind-blowing. There are no opportunities to decompress and no words to express their fears and thoughts. How does anyone begin to write a “goodbye” letter to a loved one just in case they don’t make it back to base each time? This is heartbreaking and the reality of a bomber pilot during World War II.
MASTERS OF THE AIR expresses all of this and more. Getting attached to any character is useless because of the extremely high death rate. This series is brave. The battles are nail-biting,, and the injury make-up is amazing. I recommend not watching before viewers go to sleep. The scenes are so realistic and would haunt your dreams. It is streaming on AppleTV+.
