We all knew that this episode of LOKI was going to happen sooner or later and in one form or another, but I didn’t expect it to be so good. Typically, the fifth episode of these six-episode MCU shows has been a big one, teeing us up for the finale. SCIENCE/FICTION is no exception, but it’s also entirely unique.
In some ways, LOKI reminds me of THE GOOD PLACE – to put it simply; complicated people ending up in similar circumstances, working out their differences in an otherworldly location. A big part of THE GOOD PLACE was learning more about the past lives of our protagonists; often through flashbacks. LOKI, appropriately, branches off the flashback mold and uses a reverse CHRISTMAS CAROL approach to simultaneously flesh out its characters and move the plot forward.
I don’t want LOKI to end, but after SCIENCE/FICTION, I’m more confident than ever that it’ll pull off its last episode. LOKI is available to stream on Disney+.
