LIONESS is back for its second season, and it is better than ever. Despite some of the visible plot holes, it is one of the best action spy thrillers to grace our televisions. The pace is rapid-fire fun, just like the artillery featured in mind-boggling blow-up sequences. Just make sure audiences hold onto their helmets in a safe hidey-hole when the helicopter whirls overhead. It is nonstop bullets flying.
Zoe Saldana, as Joe, the LIONESS leader, does not disappoint as she tries to balance keeping the peace across our globe along with maintaining her loving marriage with her husband, Neal (Dave Annable), and her two daughters. There are several lusty scenes interspersed with Joe making sure her company knows who is in charge. After all, she is a LIONESS. I would never mess with her, especially when she shouting commands and taking down bad guys. Despite everything, the series is believable and drenched in what we all think must happen daily. It is gritty, powerful entertainment.
Joe and her cohorts are headed into an extremely harsh situation that must be successful for the safety of everyone she loves. Thank goodness she is surrounded by the talented Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman. I can’t think of anyone else I would want to be in the SIT Room. Amazing, brilliant, and breathless dialogue ensues.
LIONESS is just getting warmed up and ready for battle. Don’t miss it. It will make audiences appreciate their stay-at-home jobs.
It is streaming on PARAMOUNT+.
