KNOX GOES AWAY is a small look at what happens when dementia attacks a person, no matter who they are or what their occupation might be. It also shares the strength of family ties, no matter the circumstances. It is not about redemption. It just is, and that must be enough.
John Knox will surprise audiences. He is not the average guy next door, and his character is brought to light by the brilliant acting of Michael Keaton. He is the center and strength of this film. Michael is also debuting as the director. In my opinion, performing is his strength. The movie has pacing issues and perhaps needs more dialogue or a backstory. I was still intrigued by the basic plot, and despite some pitfalls, it held my attention. Again, thank you, Michael Keaton. You are a compelling actor.
KNOX GOES AWAY will give viewers a different side to an insidious disease while trying to navigate life. It is sad, yet it depicts in its absurd way what thousands of families deal with daily. John Knoxโs solution is quirky and not for everyone.
It is streaming on Max.ย
