KEVIN HART: ACTING MY AGE 🤮

KEVIN HART: ACTING MY AGE is a comedy special filmed in Miami,  Florida. Hart is his usual, boisterous self, barking and shouting at his audience. In his routine, he believes 45 is old and the beginning of everything going downhill. Oh, this young man has much to learn about the aging process.

This hour of comedy was not particularly funny, and I do enjoy watching him in movies, even though he mainly portrays himself very one-dimensionally. I felt like I was being yelled at throughout the entire one-hour running time. There was no variance in tone or pitch. His timing felt off, and his face was really sweaty. It just wasn’t enjoyable. He shared bits about his six-week healing process from a groin accident. Can Kevin say the word “dick” a few dozen more times? And if I were his wife, I would be so not happy with his testosterone-infused rant.  Times have changed, and the image of a caveman is not humorous. I wanted to laugh, but it didn’t work. He did include a small, growing older goodwill speech at the very end. Too little. Too late.

KEVIN HART: ACTING MY AGE was so not. There wasn’t a moment of finesse, intelligence, humor, or play on the spoken word for stand-up comedians. Come back in 20 years or so. Then maybe,  you’ll have something to say.

It is streaming on Netflix.
