JAMIE FOXX WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS…is a celebratory, mostly serious stand-up comedy special. It was filmed in Atlanta, where Jamie thanks God, the hospital, doctors, nurses, his 4 feet 11 inches sister, two daughters, and everyone’s prayers over and over for his recovery from a stroke. It is an emotional hour-long journey with Foxx as he shares what happened in his own words and style. It will bring viewers to tears as well as screaming with laughter.
Foxx’s incredible story, at times, was difficult to watch. He was totally lost within the details. He cried easily and often. He trembled in humility and roared with indignation. After all, he is “Jamie mother fucking Foxx,” and he, at first, found it hard to accept what happened to his body. It was extremely personal, raw, and honest.
The comedy was found in his many impressions and references to past movies. The audience could recite every line along with him. They danced and sang and surrounded Foxx with love and light. It was, at times, profound and extraordinary.
JAMIE FOXX WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS… is a healing process for Foxx and all his millions of fans. It was like being in church at the end and spreading gratitude to everyone. Second chances are awesome. Enjoy your life, “Jamie, mother fucking Foxx.”
