EXPATS S1E4 MAINLAND 🤩

EXPATS was compelling and intense this week. Thanks to the brilliant writing, the talented ensemble took audiences on several, deep journeys into past traumas and profound grief. It was uncomfortable and necessary to witness.

The plot of EXPATS explored the emotional discharge from being trapped. There is the physical entrapment of being in a room, an elevator, or in a small, shitty apartment, but if viewers dig deeper, they will also find the fragments of a shattering marriage, abuse, neglect, loss, and insecurities. Kudos to creating such extraordinary moments peppered with perfect timing. When the credits rolled, I could hardly breathe. I, too, wanted to feel the rain.

EXPATS delivered a scene in the morgue that was heart-wrenching. I found myself in a lump of sadness, relief, and anxiety as well. It was simply spellbinding. EXOATS knows how to deliver the dynamics of family discourse and revelations. I was in awe that everyone went “there” and back. It is streaming on Prime Video.
