DESPICABLE ME 4 🤮

It took all of ten minutes before DESPICABLE ME’s latest sequel dropped a poop joke. And from that point forward, there was no way to save this uninspired sequel. The minions have helped Universal gross a billion dollars at the box office. Yet, with the pedigree of actors, writers, and an enormous budget, audiences deserve better. It’s not Pixar or even Dreamworks’ tier quality. How bad, you ask? It’s so bad that there was a 90s-style sing-and-dance sequence at the end of the movie (trust me, this is not a spoiler).

The only highlights in this now despicable franchise are the minions. They are still funny. Yet, in DESPICABLE ME 4, the writers choose to separate them from the main characters for most of the time in a more minor role. That can work, but only if the remaining characters are interesting enough to deserve screentime… and they are not.

Despite the heroic new characters in DESPICABLE ME 4, this franchise cannot be saved. Instead of feature-length films, I’d prefer to watch Minions shorts.

It’s available to skip in theatres.
