When Ben Sinclair (HIGH MAINTENANCE) directs an episode of DAVE, I recommend audiences tune in. His visual flair is always uniquely coupled with extreme themes about Lil Dicky’s narcissistic quest to be #1, and #RIPLilDicky exemplifies this trend.
The last time we saw Lil Dicky, he realized that his music, in the wrong hands, might be empowering the ugly side of male toxicity instead of mocking it. That urgency causes a crazy turn of events where Lil Dicky/Dave has to decide if he will become number one the right way or take a shortcut. This plot is explored through the shocking plot mechanism of Anne Frank (don’t ask) and by providing a mellon collie backstory for Mike (Andrew Santino). All of this comes to a conclusion that will have viewers anticipating next week’s episode to see what Lebron Ramone James’s #1 fan, Lil Dicky, will do.
I won’t be “content” until I learn where Dave’s journey this season lands. 🤞 he comes out of this mess looking as good as Anne Franke did in her “diary.”
