ABBOTT ELEMENTARY S3E4 SMOKING

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY’s latest episode, SMOKING, captures the essence of this show. The situation in question is upsetting to all; parents, teachers, and students – a kid is caught trying to smoke a cigarette in the bathroom.

Rather than writing off the incident as a joke, SMOKING finds the comedy in the irony of preaching to children about drugs when it’s something adults do anyway. I loved the outcome of this episode; the root cause of the student’s actions matters way more than the actual act. The episode is bolstered by guest actors Aparna Nancherla as a member of the D.A.R.E-inspired F.A.D.E and Sabrina Brier as one of Janine’s substitutes.

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY is available to stream on Hulu.
