ZOOTOPIA 2 🤩

I’m a huge fan of the original ZOOTOPIA and think it’s low-key one of the best Disney films ever made. From its worldbuilding to deep themes rooted in discrimination, it’s a classic that I’ve seen countless times. After nine long years, I was thrilled to see ZOOTOPIA 2 live up to my expectations and, in several ways, surpass them like Flash behind the wheel of a car.

Just like the first film, the sequel is inspiring in how it tackles important themes that are next to impossible to teach to a kid. From dictatorship, how our differences make us stronger, and most importantly, how completely accepting someone by listening makes them feel seen and heard. That’s a lot of heady stuff for a kid’s film. Even more impressive, none of it feels heavy-handed.

Also, the sequel is much more of a comedy than the first. It “shines” with several clever references to other films that made me laugh out loud. I can’t wait to watch it again, pause the screen, and see all the easter eggs within the worlds that Byron Howard, Rich Moore, and Jared Bush created.

Final Thought: ZOOTOPIA 2 surprised me with its complex, thoughtful story that respects both kids and adults. It easily earns a spot in my top 10 films of 2025. Audiences everywhere should have “permission to hug” this likeable, charming sequel.

It’s currently playing in theaters.
