WOLFS should have been more than it was. With George Clooney and Brad Pitt as the leading men and director/writer John Watts (SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME), the film had a solid foundation that got convoluted during the second act. It is possible to suspend disbelief, but only when the story is feasible.
Clooney and Pitt are still a hoot together their timing is impeccable. They are so in sync with every banter and extra beat. It is entertaining and hilarious. These brilliant actors breathe as one, continually giving life to the shenanigans around them. The fun, fresh take on these two criminals was overflowing with sarcasm. We never did find out either characterโs name during this entire journey. Watts created moments of intelligent writing if he could have navigated the plot in a simpler context or made other choices.
HOW I SEE ITโฆ
For the visually impaired, WOLFS moves at lightning speed during chase and fighting scenes. It is hard to connect the dots and know where to look to avoid missing the action. Sometimes, the movie is dark, and it is difficult to differentiate details. It is not a โsit-backโ and enjoy the film experience. Viewers must stay alert and watch with a careful eye.
—————————–
WOLFS were not โlonersโ during their long, madcap one-night stand. I wish the conclusion was not so quickly brushed over. Audiences could have benefitted from a slower send-off, allowing more laughs as the credits rolled.
WOLFS is streaming on Apple TV+.
