WASHINGTON BLACK SERIES REVIEW 🤩

WASHINGTON BLACK is an incredible, highly imaginative adventure story. It is based on the critically acclaimed novel by Esi Edugyan and is a limited series. It brings to light the life of ‘Wash’ expertly portrayed by two actors, Ernest Kingsley Junior and Eddie Karanja. It is a tale of sorrow and inspiration, exploring the quest to find one’s true self and the meaning of family.

Wash’s journey takes audiences worldwide. It is a world filled with imaginative and exciting scientific discoveries. The series is filled with endless possibilities for a better life for a black boy in 1837. Wash will tug on the viewer’s heartstrings every step of the way. The writers and actors have created an entertaining trip. It is fantastical. It forces the suspension of disbelief with no regrets. I wanted it to go on and on, never ending.

The extraordinary Sterling K. Brown is at the helm of this epic. He, along with a phenomenally talented ensemble, makes every scene believable and magical. This includes Tom Ellis, Christopher Rupert Graves, and Iola Evans. They contribute to the spellbinding action and intention. Their words will move audiences to tears, laughter, and a sense of contentment. The directors knew where and how to guide us until the final, captivating frame. Some may say the final montage was predictable and a tad sappy. Not I.

WASHINGTON BLACK stirs my soul to “fly.” It stimulates my brain never to stop yearning to learn and create, no matter the number of obstacles. It is truly well done.

WASHINGTON BLACK is streaming on Hulu.
