THIS IS ME…NOW: A LOVE STORY is a stunning, dark odyssey of Jennifer Lopez’s search for true love. The viewers are invited to witness JLo’s introspective, musical journey. It is filled with fabulous choreography and huge production numbers, as well as therapy sessions and visits with a star-filled Zodiacal Council.
Jennifer is determined to let her fans know who she is as a person including her flaws and mistakes. She created this film about her longing and search for “the one.” Her path is gritty and painful as depicted in her explosive dance moves. The songs are from her latest album including REBOUND and CAN’T GET ENOUGH. the locations added to the fell she was going through to get it right. Her humor was often self-deprecating and raw. This is a side to J’Lo we are not privy to usually see.
The costumes were incredible. The hair and make-up showcased each character and zodiac sign. It was fresh and spot-on. My favorite dance number was the homage J’Lo freely expressed to the SINGING IN THE RAIN extravaganza complete with a torrential downpour, a lamppost, and an umbrella. Sheer perfection. Gene Kelly would be cheering.
The cast list was a who’s who in Hollywood and included Jane Fonda, Keke Palmer, Fat Joe, Trevor Noah, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Ben Affleck, Jay Shetty, Sophia Vergara, Derek Hough, and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
THIS IS ME…NOW: A LOVE STORY is indulgent and poignant. It is fun and entertaining with tons of CGI effects. Crazy and audacious, wildly, campy visions created a delicious special that makes sure audiences know to “Never give up.” It is streaming on Prime Video.
