THE WHITE LOTUS is so back!! The pilot episode did not fail to disappoint or fall under any expectations that fans had been waiting for. In the time we live in, where shows take years to produce new seasons (STRANGER THINGS…), THE WHITE LOTUS does a brilliant job of keeping the formula the same but switching the ingredients to keep fans happy.
This pilot episode had everything I love about the show and has already captivated me. The aesthetic is gorgeous, and I can not wait to see what over-arching motif they employ throughout the season. THE WHITE LOTUS does a phenomenal job of making you, as the viewer, feel like a character in the show. You are fed with these rich (literally) views and stunning scenery, matched with the anxiety and anger of the other characters. I am already invested in every character’s storyline, but Aimee Lou Wood took the award for my favorite character in the season, if not the whole show.
This season already has some of the more “down-to-earth” characters we’ve seen where we can relate to their struggles more empathetically rather than viewing them as “Eat the Rich.”
Season 2 of THE WHITE LOTUS, which included spectacular writing, cast, drama, aesthetic, and score, set the bar pretty high, but after this pilot, I have good expectations for what will follow.
It’s available on Max.
