THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB ๐Ÿ˜Š

THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB was the highly anticipated film, based on the international best-selling novel by Richard Osman.ย ย It was a letdown considering the all-star cast, featuring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Joyce Celia, that it wasnโ€™t a must-see movie. The fault lies with the writers and director, who tried to cram too much into a two-hour film.ย

I have read the original book, and I can easily say it was a delightful murder mystery. The ensemble is such a merry โ€œband of pensioners.โ€ The action is fast-paced, including an amazing body bag count. This is one of those times it would have been better to utilize more editing techniques. Every detail created by Osmanโ€™s pen is not necessary. Less is often more.ย ย

The actorโ€™s timing and deadpan facial expressions were spot-on. I thought the colorful character casting choices were similar to what I envisioned. The location was perfection. Wish I could live at the stunning senior facility. Cris Columbus (HARRY POTTER series), the director, may have been a little too overzealous not to disappoint loyal fans, but in the end, he did precisely that.ย

THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB was a fun sleuthing adventure. I am hoping there will be another in the near future to follow the book series. I promise to remember my โ€œABCโ€ฆalways bring cake!โ€

It is streaming on Netflix.ย
