I recently subscribed to Peacock because they were having a sale and there were a few exclusive shows and movies I want/wanted to check out. But THE RESORT came highly recommended to me and stars the delightful William Jackson Harper (THE GOOD PLACE) and Cristin Milotti (PALM SPRINGS), so I figured it was a perfect place to start.ย
As of this publishing, the show has not yet been picked up for a second season. With that said, it works perfectly well as a mini-series, but Iโd love to see it continue. Jackson and Milotti play Noah & Emma, respectively, who travel to the Yucatan Peninsula for their 10th wedding anniversary and get mixed up in the mysterious disappearance of two tourists who have been missing for 15 years.ย
On the surface, THE RESORT is a comedy, but as the series unfolds over eight episodes, itโs also a drama, a thriller, and a mystery all wrapped in one. As Emma & Noah dive in and try to solve the mystery of the long-gone tourists, the layers of their courtship and marriage peel back and expose their triumphs and hardships. Are they trying to solve this mystery or just distracting themselves from their issues? Or perhaps are they looking to find something they lost themselves?
With all the episodes clocking in between 30-40m, THE RESORT is a fun and easy binge that successfully treads the line between a marital dramedy and otherwordly whodunit.
No need to grab your passport to follow this adventure, THE RESORT S1 is streaming on Peacock.
