THE PITT S2E11 5 P.M. 🤩

THE PITT put several situations into clear perspective during their 5 P.M. hour of a very long, heartbreaking shift. Thank goodness tissues were close at hand, not only for wiping, free-flowing tears, but also to shred and throw at the screen when things got tense at Pittsburgh’s Trauma Center. It reiterated that there are really few things we can control that are basically and humanely wrong within the confines of our current society. “Death is death,” especially when considering “pediatric body bags.”

THE PITT once again gave audiences a bird’s eye view of places I never wanted or expected to see. There was so much blood and empathy. The writers made sure the characters reached the end of their rope and exploded in authentic, truthful outbursts. It made it all even more real while we were privy to moments of intentionally flawed but superbly played by doctors and nurses who are only trying to do the best they can under horrific conditions. Extra shout-outs to Robby, Dana, Mel, Santos, and Langdon. Leaving life’s shit outside the hospital doors is not easy or, at times, humanly possible.

I must mention the exciting, intense editing that goes on behind those cordoned-off curtains. It is controlled, competent chaos using a breathless pacing to make everyone feel the deep, frenetic urgency to be seen and helped. Each episode drains me, yet I keep coming back for more.

One thing most of us are learning each hour is the extraordinarily different ways everyone reacts to trauma. Again, I say, bravo to those who work in the medical field. THE PITT makes this obvious to all who tune in, and it is accomplished with the grace of angels. Incredible moments of TV at its finest.

Don’t miss it streaming on HBO MAX.
