THE LATER DATERS is a fascinating look at six older men and women trying to find a love connection in their “later” years. The age range is 55 to 70 for these active, energetic, but very stuck in their comfortable routines, older generation. Surprisingly, the series’ Executive Producer is Michelle Obama. Now, there’s a story in that connection.
The show is better than THE GOLDEN BACHELORETTE because each adult is surrounded by their grown-up children or friends and receives excellent expert advice from Logan Ury, who holds several Communication Degrees. Everyone is lovingly guided to examine their individual situation and try to incorporate some changes. Sometimes, they succeed, and sometimes, the match does not work, but they are always considerate about their choices.
THE LATER DATERS surprised me. I did not expect to enjoy the journey of self-discovery. I found myself rooting for some of the couplings to work. Of course, not all found their soulmate. This would seem too planned and artificial, but everyone had an “aha” moment to celebrate. This was a far more realistic reaction to getting older and entering the dating field again.
