THE GOOD FIGHT’s final night ended with clear definitions and intentions concerning the current climate of society. The writers used a timeline to put it all into perspective. It was powerful.
Loose threads were neatly tied up. People found their places, and they all fit together despite many disturbing and violent moments. “If your work doesn’t bring you peace, then why do it?” A tricky question to answer as the ensemble recognized their paths. And it did not help to hear a major lyric from the musical GODSPELL repeated several times. “PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD…” It was a “done with hate” scene, to be sure.
The last episode of THE GOOD FIGHT stood for honesty, trust, and love. Words that should be number one on our vocabulary list. You don’t have “to like legends because legends get old.” Then what are you left with when life leaves us vulnerable and desperate? Decide because “life can always get shittier.” And then “time is up.”
When it was done, I wanted to stand up and cheer. The entire creative team and actors deserved a standing ovation. It all surprised me and left me with a “WOW” moment. Loved every second.
