THE GILDED AGE S1E5 CHARITY HAS TWO FUNCTIONS 😊

THE GILDED AGE’S latest episode was interesting and more entertaining. The story was filled with inciteful tidbits about how charity was conceived and considered among the rich in the late 1880’s. Yes, it was meant to help those in need, but it also provided a pathway for people to rise in society’s social standings. Gladys Russell (Taissa Farmiga) was making her move.

The Red Cross, created by Clara Barton (Linda Emond), was stepping out among the “old and new money.” Aurora Fane, (Kelli O’Hara, Tony award winner) has a different plan. THE GILDED AGE takes gossiping to another level and chatting among “friends” is quite normal as long as you are carrying a double-edged sword hidden in your crinolines. Speaking of costuming, check out the ultra-amazing, purple dress Dorothy Scott (Audra McDonald) was wearing. To die for…this is all I can say. I would wear it anywhere just to say I did. The dresses the ladies wear are beyond spectacular.

Ward McAllister (Nathan Lane) made a fabulous entrance. The “gatekeeper” has definitely arrived with fanfare and oodles of giggles and weird shrieks. He is always an added breath of fresh air to any situation. Please tell me how they sit down to eat so much and yet stay so svelte? I want what they are having or not.

THE GILDLED AGE retrieved their quick bantering this week. It was a pleasure Ito witness scandals brewing among those who have way too much and little to show for their time. It is available to stream on HBO Max.
