THE GILDED AGE S1E4 A LONG LADDER ๐Ÿ˜Š

THE GILDED AGE had some interesting moments, but I feel the seriesย is losing some of its original spark and pizazz. As a result, I find myself wanting more.ย

The one area thatย never disappoints is the costumes. Gorgeousโ€ฆstunningโ€ฆbreath-taking. Wrap up that red cape for me please! And I thoroughly enjoy seeing the beginnings of New Yorkโ€™s, legendary, landmarks being constructed. Free history lessons are always a plus. What I am not smitten with is the lack of conversational flow. Everyone seems more stilted than in the opening pilot except for Agnes (Christine Baranski), George Russell (Morgan Spector), and Gladys Spector (Taissa Farmiga). The writer, Julian Fellowes needs to find that much-beloved bantering from DOWNTON ABBEY. The hour moved too slow. This is obviously not good for keeping the audienceโ€™s attention.ย

The themes are still centering around class and station for all skin tones. It is old money vs. new money, andย it will take a โ€œlong ladder to reach mโ€™lady.โ€ Finding happiness played against the mighty dollar…hmm, which will win?

THE GILDED AGE is available to stream on HBO Max.
