Ryan Destiny portrayed “Ressa” with a bold, spirited passion. Her story was fraught with so many potholes in the road that most athletes would have quit before they even got started. Her biggest battle was fighting for equal pay for both genders. It was an encouraging, coming-of-age story that also included a stellar performance by Brian Tyree Henry as Jason, her neighborhood coach, who discovered her when she was only eleven. Their verbal sparring and physical boxing matches gave this film its fiery impetus. Excellent dramatic writing was the icing on this electrifying treat.
THE FIRE INSIDE is a heartwarming movie that will uplift the entire family. Films that teach young people anything is possible with hard work, and determination are worth their weight in gold as well.
