THE ACOLYTE finally gave audiences the Mae/Osha backstory. Was it worth the wait? I can honestly say…no. There are still unanswered questions and the episode did nothing to progress the storyline. Quite frankly, I just didn’t care since the acting was minimal and the writing was boring.
If I had my CHOICE, I would not have made it this far in the series, but I do like to see my commitments through the season. There could have been several different angles THE ACOLYTE producers and director should have explored. The ensemble needed to be pushed harder and perhaps some improvisational scenes would have helped. Or perhaps, the concept should just be scrapped and have a “do-over” without casting Lee Jung-jae as Master Sol. The man shows nothing on his face or in his tone to elicit empathy. Please let him go. It’s not enough to rest on past laurels in the STAR WARS franchise.
THE ACOLYTE’s finale is next week. Yay…it will be over soon. One can hope it goes out on a “noble mission” within the boundaries of a vergence. It is streaming on Disney+.
