SUGAR is at the end of his journey…or is he? The final episode left much to consider as we all “observe and report.” I am betting on a second season with all the dangling loose ends.
John Sugar (Colin Farrell) uses a slow tempo to piece his life and others together. The writers allow for stillness and many beats of staring at each other. FAREWELL had the least amount of action, with viewers watching John mostly drive around a great deal in his flashy blue Camaro convertible. It was a thought-provoking finale that allowed for much time on our hands. Was it my favorite? I would have to say definitely not, but I did understand the “artsy” theme behind the whole premise.
I must ask, “struggle without contradiction…what is the point?” I really don’t care much. Sorry SUGAR. I wish you well on your next case. One season was enough for me. It is streaming on Apple TV+.
