I grew up watching STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION (we had the complete DVD boxed set), but aside from watching the recent STAR TREK theatrical films, my knowledge of the universe is limited.

Luckily, STRANGE NEW WORLDS seems to capture the sense of adventure that made TNG great. It’s a bit early to tell, but I’m hoping each episode will focus on a unique journey and keeps an episodic flow. The only negatives of this episode were minor character and backstory confusion on my side and a relatively bland conflict.

In general, I tend to dislike prequels – they sometimes feel creatively limited, but since I am not as familiar with the “future” in this timeline, I don’t think that’ll be an issue. So, here’s hoping STRANGE NEW WORLDS goes where no STAR TREK show has gone before.

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS is now streaming on Paramount+.
