STAR TREK: DISCOVERY is trying my patience. This final season has been torturous to get through. There used to be tons of sci-fi references that once upon a time set the bar quite high. It is enormously disappointing to see your favorite characters erased and the plot becomes a mere mystery chase for clues.Â
Each week I tell myself the show will find its former rhythm and get better. I long for the stories about the crew, their loyalty, and their camaraderie. I used to look forward to how they solved problems together. This is not the case anymore. Confident crew personnel have been reduced to sniveling children, while the pushier ones are now overly kind and understanding. Yuck. The spark is gone, and I just don’t care even if a dozen mofongos are replicated, or if there could be a prime directive violation.Â
STAR TREK: DISCOVERY has lost my respect. Shame on the writers. I just hope I can finish it out of my highest regard for what used to be a fun, exciting, and engaging trip through space and time. It is streaming on Paramount+.
