SLOW HORSES does not disappoint with the premier of season four. It brings to the forefront another spy-thriller mystery to solve. It is packed with an ensemble you would love to hate but can’t. They are the team at MI5’s Slough House, and no matter how many mistakes they make, viewers are mesmerized by their witty retorts, bantering, and bravado.
Jackson Lamb, played by the stupendous, brilliant Gary Oldman, is at the core of this perfect story. He has created a vile, filthy, farty, quick-thinking, slow-walking character that will haunt audiences the moment he appears. But be forewarned. No one is as sharp as he is. He has a sense of loyalty to his group of ‘rejects’ that knows no bounds and will never be acknowledged. He amazingly shows all these emotional highs and lows through his faultless facial expressions and physicality. It is like watching a master class in slow-mo.
Jack Lowden’s portrayal of River Cartwright contributes to the sarcastic humor that binds the threads of this series together so well. He is not afraid to move first and think later, making for exciting, entertaining plot lines.
SLOW HORSES is a mind-boggling adventure into the behind-the-curtain world of bombings and tragic deaths. It keeps audiences on their toes as they chase to find the evil mastermind. Oh, I know I could have been a secret agent in another life because this show gets my heart-a-pumping all in a good way.
It is streaming on Apple TV+.Â
