SIRENS S1 REVIEW ๐Ÿ˜Šย

SIRENS is a limited dark comedy/drama featuring a breathtaking cliff house mansion that does exist in Ogunquit, Maine. The landscape and scenery of this series are superb. The story and acting are merely average. This is a tragedy because it features Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Meghann Fahy, and Milly Alcock.ย

SIRENS wants audiences to believe in those Greek mythological creatures that could lure men into making terrible decisions by using the sound of their voice. The writers continually hint at this concept. What a shame. The content required a stronger push and a genuine commitment. This way, the ending would have a bigger pay-off. As it was, it just fell flat. More layers of the characters’ backstories needed to be brought into the light. There were deep potholes in the plot that, if filled in, could have made a world of difference. I missed the mystical touch of whether any powerful, fantasy moments were put into play. It was all taken too lightly and wiped clean. It was a missed opportunity since Mooreโ€™s character, Michaela, was pretty creepy.ย

I binged SIRENS in one sitting, hoping it would blow me away. All I got for my time was a beautiful-looking fizzle. I canโ€™t quite rate this series as vomit. It was entertaining, outrageous, and humorous at times. I am just disappointed about what it could have been.ย

SIRENS is streaming on NETFLIX.
