THE FIELD was chock full to the brim with the struggles of Parkinson’s, anger lingering after the loss of a friend, built-up resentments, inabilities to move towards acceptance, and major parenting dynamics. It all sounds like we need to continue our therapy sessions for the immediate future. Thank goodness, the Doctors, Gabby, Paul, and Jimmy are in.
This series boggles my brain. Week after week, audiences are treated to profound, humorous, thought-provoking, and authentic comments, criticisms, and confirmations. How did we ever make it through our day without this entire cast by our side? The writers create snippets of everyday life’s conundrums that most of us face. Am I a good parent? How do I find love again? How will I know when it is time to retire? When do you know you are an adult? When do I stop feeling guilty about what I say or do? Is “Jimmying” the answer? Don’t worry. The writers have it all under control and are leading us to a safe place where a special guest star is present to put it all into perspective. I stand quietly in awe and admiration.
SHRINKING is simply extraordinary. Excellent acting, complete with subtle, powerful words, to give all of us the choice to keep on going, no matter what calamities or celebrations fall from the heavens.
