SECRET MALL APARTMENT 🤩

SECRET MALL APARTMENT involves eight artists in Rhode Island who find a creative way to protest the gentrification of their city. It started as a possible prank, but then evolved into a huge project spanning four years. It evolved over time, providing an avenue for individuals to utilize their artistic skills and create a unique community dedicated to further enhancing the connection between life and art. They filmed everything and turned it into a meaningful, insightful documentary twenty years later. It is a fascinating story about how to utilize unoccupied space at the Providence Place Mall.

All the original eight agreed to participate in this award-winning Indie film. The interviews and clips with everyone involved demonstrate how time can change perspective. They consider themselves highly talented, as shown through their Tapeart project murals after the Oklahoma bombing, 9/11, and Children’s Cancer Hospitals. Their creations were incredible and allowed all of them to temporarily give back to society in a positive way during difficult times. Jeremy Workman, the director and producer, understood the minute complexities of everything involved.  He allowed the whole story to be brought to the screen, along with sharing where and how the eight are doing in 2025. Jesse Eisenberg was also the Executive producer.

SECRET MALL APARTMENT is a fabulous story bringing all facets of life together with those who must visually originate. It is a testament to all those who are simply trying to figure out how to best utilize their gifts to make this world fuller and richer, without being tied to a monetary value. It is not an easy life to create.
