RICKY GERVAIS: MORTALITY is another comedy special from an irrepressible comedian. He is known for his bold, brash style, and this concert is no different. Gervais allows no prisoners to be set free as he discusses life, death, grief, prison sex, the Golden Globes, and facing the inevitability of aging. Was he funny? Of course, but only if you are a fan and get a kick out of Gervaisโ€™s fast-talking humor.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed this comedy special more than others I have watched lately. Maybe itโ€™s because of the pacing or his ability to really know how to bullseye that punchline with perfect timing. Yes, he cusses, but that is okay as well. I enjoy his ease, confidence, and pure joy telling jokes on stage. Some comics can appear angry. Gervais is a giggler and looks like heโ€™s in charge while enjoying every minute. All we have to do is sit back and decide whether he is funny. Gervais will be Gervais. No change there, no matter how old he gets. We can either stay or flip the remote to something else. I chose to stay.

It is streaming on Netflix.ย
