Finally, RICK AND MORTY moves the story forward with some inspiring INCEPTION-like plot elements that remind us why Rick’s character growth over eight bittersweet seasons has been so profoundly sad and moving. The season finale wasn’t as funny as previous installments this past year. However, it was the most heartfelt, creative, and it hit me right in the feels.
Some of my favorite quotes this week:
- “I took my wife out of my head. I’m going through a lot.”
- “Grandpa keeps referring to THE CANON BALL RUN movie, and I’m tired of pretending like I’ve seen it.”
- “I remember loving my dad and now hating my dad.”
- That’s just called being alive, sweetie.”

The battle between the Rick(s) gave audiences a ‘memory’ that should provide much offseason fodder to debate while we await season nine. Despite the ups and downs, RICK AND MORTY is still must-see TV for adults who love science fiction, pop culture, and a lot of raunchy humor.
It’s available on Adult Swim.
