RICK AND MORTY S7E7 WET KUAT AMORTICAN SUMMER 😊

When starting the latest R&M, I thought, “Ugh, not a Summer-focused episode.” But then, I took Morty’s advice and “opened my mind” for a semi-enjoyable spoof on one of the craziest action SCI-FI films ever made (which I’m not going to spoil here). I’m still rooting for RICK AND MORTY to return to the main subplot instead of one-off episodes. Yet, I can’t fault the creators for taking small steps to show how Rick’s emotional arc continues to evolve. In…

RICK AND MORTY S7E6 RICKFENDING YOUR MORT 😊

After the jaw-dropping UNMORTRICKEN, RICK AND MORTY returns to normalcy with a clip show in the form of a cosmic beam. While the plot mechanism to create the clip show is clever, there isn’t much here except for some fun action sequences and minor chuckles.  Some of my favorite quotes this week: It was a given that RICK AND MORTY can only do some episodes with big reveals. As long as there’s enough action and humor, I’m okay with a…

RICK AND MORTY S7E5 UNMORTRICKEN 🤩

Almost ten years ago, RICK AND MORTY made its premiere on Adult Swim. The series has had its ups and downs, but as long-time fans know, those ups are so ricking-awesome you’ll slog through a president episode to get to the good stuff. With UNMORTRICKEN, the show easily delivers a top-five episode. Audiences can guess where things are heading from the opening montage, but it’s still shockingly fun. Without spoiling too much, E5 reminded me of the SUCCESSION’s final season…

RICK AND MORTY S7E2 THE JERRICK TRAP 😊

If anyone doubted if the new voice talents would have any chemistry with the old, there’s nothing to fear as the latest episode teams up Rick and Jerry for a body-swapping… I mean, a brain-swapping episode. THE JERRICK TRAP does little to move the plot forward for the show’s characters. However, it’s okay to do that occasionally when the action and humor are so much damn fun. What’s keeping this episode from being a 🤩 is the convoluted ending that…

RICK AND MORTY S7E1 HOW POOPY GOT HIS POOP BACK 🤮

The best RICK AND MORTY episodes are a mix of genre-spoofing comedy, and the worst are gross-out episodes that do little to move the plot forward. Despite a comic-book-sized cameo, the season seven premiere lacks originality and humor. It’s an empty vessel of genre spoofs that ends up running out of gas long before the lawnmower does. A lot has been said about the recasting of the voice actors on the show since Justin Roiland was kicked off of it.…
