RICK AND MORTY is back for another season! The season premiere, SUMMER OF ALL FEARS, doesn’t add anything new to the formula since the series premiered twelve years ago. Yet, it does one thing right, and that is it packs an extra charge of hilarious moments.
The basic premise involves phone chargers bringing people to war against Osama Been Chargin. Yes, there isn’t a typo in that ridiculous description. As the hilarity ensues, so do the science-fiction references and puns. The series has always been at its best when it stumbles from one plot to another, and this first episode does that as audiences see Summer versus Morty.
Some of my favorite quotes this week:
- “Full hearts, full charge.”
- “Isn’t comedy just the revelation of an acknowledged truth?”
- “Pour some bedtime wine.”
Be sure not to borrow a phone charger and tune in to a laugh-out-loud edition of RICK AND MORTY on Adult Swim.
