This week’s episode “does not cut the Chut.” To mix it up, we get a Summer and Morty spaceship quest while Jerry and Rick go out for boy’s night. So you’ll need an extra sip of “sofa wine” to make it through both misguided adventures.
As Summy and Morty try to impress Bruce Chutback, the new kid in town, it feels like co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon are also trying to impress the audience. It’s just not fun to watch failing plotlines involving Jerry singing to hell demons with Rick and Summer and Morty working as a team (aka, what most people call family). Not even Rick’s talking spaceship trying to lose her virginity can save this week’s “non-chut” worthy episode.
At one point, Rick says, “Never follow hell demons to a second location; it’s always hell.” Yup, that’s what this week’s episode is – hell.
