PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS S2 REVIEW ๐Ÿ˜Š

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS is based on a young adult fantasy book series by Rick Riordan. It has been much anticipated, with fans expecting the made-for-television tale remain true to the enormous, epic, supernatural, original story. Luckily, they were not disappointed.ย

Percy, a demigod portrayed by Walker Scobell, has the perfect angst-driven look, complete with his abundant curly locks. He is reunited with his two cohorts, Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri). They are on another quest that is much darker and has significant repercussions for the continuation of Zeusโ€™s world. Along the journey, a prophecy is revealed that leads to more intense encounters with Cyclops, giants, seductive Sirens, invisible borders, and invading armies. The trio travels over land and sea. Obviously, there is more action, choices, and consequences. It is all exciting and entertaining.ย

My only complaint is that, despite all these intriguing moments, there are too many filler episodes and very basic dialogue. The characters and plot could benefit from moving a tad faster. Maybe cutting back the number of episodes to eight instead of ten would create even more intensity. It would also not hurt to limit the number of teenage emotional upheavals, but I am speaking from an older perspective, not YA.ย

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS is set up for a third season. The fate of the gods is a heavy burden to carry, but I have no doubt Percy and his friends will be up for another challenging quest to fulfill.

It is streaming on Disney+.
