Welcome to the "Murder building."

Contributor Esta Rosevear is on leave this week, so I’m doing “double time” providing the review for the latest ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING. While there’s one solo highlight, not much happens in the newest episode. It’s as though the creators are letting things build up for one hopeful big bang finale next week.

With that said, the highlight has to be Jane Lynch, playing Sazz Pataki. She’s Charles’s (Steve Martin) old stunt double on his classic TV show, BRAZZOS. It’s comedy gold watching her mirror Steve Martin’s mannerisms. What’s not comedy gold is the plot revolving around Charles’s girlfriend, Jan. The bassoonist with a passion is challenging for any actress, and Amy Ryan is giving it her all. Unfortunately, her all isn’t enough because Jan continues to take Steve Martin away from the trio that makes this show watchable – him, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez.

As the residents of the Arconia grow more upset at the podcast’s negative publicity, I’m hoping that audiences won’t do the same next week, and this expertly crafted show sticks the landing before the final podcast recording drops.

It’s available on Hulu.
