ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING is a fun, true-crime comedy starring the dynamic duo Steve Martin and Martin Short. It is a clever romp through the world of podcasts and mayhem.
The plot is simple. Three residents of an old, classy, New York apartment building join forces quite by accident to solve this mystery murder. Selena Gomez adds on, and together they all become friends who have many secrets to hide from each other. Not to mention the dozens of other building occupants who need to be investigated. Wouldn’t you love to live in this building where Nathan Lane and Sting are residents as well?
Each episode begins with a narrative of a different character’s voice-over background. Tina Fey was the first. My favorite moment was the take-off of the famous scene from CHORUS LINE with all the residents lined up in the same poses as the original musical and Martin Short portraying the director. Priceless.
ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING has started its series strong and fabulous. It keeps you on your toes because nothing ends up being as it seems. This will keep audiences guessing and coming back each week for more. I know I will. I am a fan already, and I am dying to know “who done it.”
