SMALLFOLK presumably exists to set up the final two episodes of the second season. Unfortunately, this means we get an installment lining up dominoes without the excitement of watching them fall.
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON relies on a character-led story with bursts of action, so I don’t fault the show for occasional tedium. But this means the show needs to constantly develop the Greens, the Blacks, and, of course, the SMALLFOLK – but unfortunately, in this episode, we don’t quite build enough empathy or enmity towards any character.
SMALLFOLK won’t go down as a memorable episode of the GAME OF THRONES universe, but it does seem like somewhat of an inflection point.
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON is now streaming on Max.
