HAVOC is a waste of time, but it features a superb cast of highly skilled actors. The fighting sequences started on a high note, but after a dozen fight battles later, it all became redundant and too difficult to suspend disbelief. What a shame.Â
The star power of HAVOC was stellar, showcasing Tom Hardy, Timothy Olyphant, Richard Harrington, Forest Whitaker, and Luis Guzman. It wasn’t their acting that was at fault. Blame it all on the insipid script, repetitive dialogues, not enough good storytelling, and too many CGI-induced moments that never seemed to end. I enjoy a good, well-choreographed fight, but this film seemed to continually use serious gunfire and machete play to move the plot forward. After a while, it got old, and all empathy for the characters went away in huge, explosive scenes.Â
HAVOC’s ensemble deserved better. Frankly, so does the audience.
It is streaming on NETFLIX. Â
