HACKS premiered its first episode for its fifth season amid much chaos and turmoil from tumultuous events that occurred in Deborah’s (Jean Smart) life. The entire core ensemble is back, creating mayhem at every turn. “Shifting the narrative” is the key objective, even when an EGOT, which seems like reaching for the sky. It is a humorous opening that sets the stage for what’s to come.
My favorite scenes are the ones where the dynamic duo is together. Deborah and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) know who they are and how to work a crowd. Their timing and pacing are perfectly paced. Toss in Jimmy and Kayla for added fun, and it is non-stop jokes and silly schtick. It is all great entertainment, and we know they are just getting warmed up.
HACKS is well on its merry way to “free Deborah.” I am on board for another delightful, bumpy ride with comedy’s finest.
My advice… don’t miss HACKS on HBO MAX.
