HACKS opened with a hilarious scenario on Deborah’s (Jean Smart) Late Night Show. I loved the surprise guest. It was an interesting segue to the theme of the episode. It veered left, then came back to Late Night, but it all gave insight into what is important to Deborah and how she struggles to find her true self as she ages. Most of us can relate.
HACKS seemed calmer overall, except for dilemmas associated with Dance Mom. It was great fun to catch up with characters who are not around each week anymore. The crazy antics and dialogues were still in sync but showed how quickly people can change when not in Deborah’s constant orbit. The show felt like it was building a new action arc of story content. Don’t get me wrong. It is always about Late Night’s ratings but also pushes new pathways to become number one.
HACKS still cracks me up. The fast, one-liner zingers are perfectly timed. I am very curious where the writers are taking us. I have a feeling I better buckle up. It might be a bumpy ride.
HACKS is streaming on Max.
