HACKS is a fast-paced, fast-talking comedy show that keeps me on my toes while listening to the conversation banter and jokes between Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder.) It’s like a champion tennis match flicking my head back and forth amid chuckles, smiles, and snorts.
Colonoscopies should never be this funny, nor should three short words… ”What a cu**!” It was hard to keep a straight face, but the writers managed to include a serious theme as well which deals with women being “allowed” to say what they want to achieve for their careers, all while, reinforcing the variety of addictions that affect performers. It was, in the end, very thoughtful episodes that pushed both women to new standards and goals.
HACKS is fun and entertaining. Viewers might want to hate Deborah for her narcissistic behaviors, but just can’t help loving her as well. She can plow through obstacles to get to the heart of any problem on the table. This is Deborah’s superpower, and I thoroughly enjoy watching her succeed. HACKS is on a roll. I hope it doesn’t stop. It is streaming on Max.
