HACKS started its third season off by premiering two wonderful episodes filled with delightful, humorous banter between Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder.) It felt like welcoming old friends back into my inner circle.
HACKS turned the clock forward one year which helped keep the storyline fresh, sarcastic, and entertaining. Jean and Hannah have impressive comedic timing. They both know how to pause for an extra beat or breath to make sure each line hits. It is a fast and furious pace when they get started. I love it. Ava’s honesty with Deborah makes them fun to follow through their comedy journey. It was also a hoot to have the entire ensemble together, spreading their creative wings, and Vegas still provides an excellent backdrop for the out-of-control production cast/crew. The umbrella bit was perfect and so LA as well.
HACKS continuously reinforces that “musical comedies are an oxymoron.” I can’t wait to see if Ava will be working “for” or “under.” Life just got better no matter what happens between these two strong-willed women. I am still a fan. It is streaming on Max.
