FUBAR was better for their second season, or I just got used to all the one-line zingers and outrageous shenanigans that were doomed to take on a life of their own. To watch this series, viewers must suspend all disbelief. The death-defying situations, along with the crazy casting, are nonsensical, yet I got suckered in due to the humor and zany life-or-death moments.
Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the aging leader of the CIA team. He is looking his age, and it was quite silly watching him push heavy objects around, beat up bad guys, or try to jump across a building. I have TOTAL RECALL of what a muscled hunk he used to be. Now I’m not so sure he’ll be back. He does make the absurd look easy, all while smoking his beloved cigars.
His team of misfits is insane, but they are in sync with one another. Their comedic timing is perfect. It leaves plenty of seconds for groaning while laughing. I must give a standing O to Hamsteak, the adorable little pink piglet that became a part of the team. The photo session montage between Hamsteak and Carter was hilariously priceless.
I also must mention Fortune Feimster. She has a brilliant straight face way to deliver every punchline thrown at her. She cracks me up, and it’s difficult to believe she could be CIA-trained and a genius at math. I just went with the premise, story content, and chose to stay in comedy bliss.
FUBAR is very creative in how it exposes its title at the beginning of each episode. It always seemed to foreshadow the fu**-ups coming any minute. Hey, it’s summer. I will watch almost anything as long as it is entertaining. This is the best word to describe FUBAR, but add ‘mindless’ to the mix.
